JOHANNESBURG – Bearing Man Group (BMG) has launched its new Synergy Ex IE3 flameproof motor range, designed to deliver reliable power and enhanced safety for demanding mining and industrial applications. The range was officially introduced at the recently concluded Electra Mining Africa exhibition in Johannesburg.
The robust Synergy Ex range has been specifically engineered to provide dependable performance and certified protection for operations in hazardous surface and underground environments.
According to Graeme Neilson, Business Unit Manager: Electric Motors at BMG, selecting the right motor for hazardous areas goes beyond power and speed.“Power, protection and reliability are critical in hazardous-area applications. It is essential that the selected motor is not only compatible with the driven equipment but also suited to the specific conditions in which it will operate,” says Neilson. “For Synergy Ex motors, safety, certification, correct area classification and proven reliability are just as important as technical performance.
”He notes that a motor failure in a mining or industrial plant carries far-reaching consequences. Beyond replacement costs, it can lead to lost production, increased maintenance spend and extended downtime that impacts entire operations.“BMG’s technical team works closely with customers to match the motor to the hazardous-area classification, gas group, temperature class, power, speed, enclosure protection and duty requirements. Our goal is to help customers select the right motor for each application and keep critical equipment running reliably,” he adds.
Built for Harsh ConditionsThe Synergy Ex range is available from 0.75 kW to 250 kW in 2-, 4- and 6-pole configurations. The motors feature heavy-duty construction, high reliability, long service life and superior thermal performance.
With Class H insulation and IP66 enclosure protection, the range is built to withstand challenging operating conditions while minimizing downtime and maintenance requirements.
The motors are ideally suited for both underground and surface operations in coal, platinum, gold and copper mines, as well as other mineral processing plants. In industrial sectors, the range enhances the performance of pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and crushers. For added installation flexibility, a flange ring can be fitted to convert a B3 foot-mounted motor to a B3/5 foot-and-flange configuration without removing the end shield – a practical solution where dual mounting is required.BMG specialists emphasize that final motor selection must be based on a thorough assessment of the area classification and operating conditions. All relevant certification and technical documentation must be verified prior to installation.
This careful selection process is crucial as hazardous-area suitability is application-specific. Factors such as the nature of the potentially explosive atmosphere, gas group, permissible surface temperature, installation environment and operating duty must all be evaluated before specification.
BMG remains committed to being a trusted partner to Africa’s mining and industrial sectors, offering quality flameproof motor solutions backed by competitive pricing, expert technical support and dependable after-sales service.
