Xylem Draws Strong Interest at Electra Mining Africa 2026 with End-to-End Mine Water Solutions

As thousands converge at Electra Mining Africa 2026 for the latest in mining technology, Xylem, the global water technology leader, is drawing strong foot traffic in Hall 5 with its integrated approach to mine water management.

Under its towering blue X, Xylem is showcasing a full lifecycle water portfolio — from critical dewatering to smart digital control and advanced wastewater treatment.

On display are its flagship solutions including Flygt submersible pumps, the rugged Godwin Dri-Prime dewatering pumps, Flygt Pareo smart pump controllers, and a working scale model of its Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system.

Water as a Strategic Mining Asset

“Water is inseparable from mining. It can be a hazard to workers and equipment, a critical part of processing, and central to tailings and discharge risk. Mines understand that water management directly impacts efficiency, safety, compliance and reliability,” said Chetan Mistry, Strategy and Marketing Director for Growth Markets, Xylem Water Solutions & Services (WSS).

“What we are demonstrating at Electra Mining is how Xylem’s global expertise helps mines and mining contractors do more with their water resources.”

DAF Technology Takes Centre Stage

A major crowd-puller at the stand is the working scale model of Xylem’s compact Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system. The technology uses micro air bubbles to float suspended contaminants — including residual flotation reagents, fine ores, oils, metal precipitates and sludges — to the surface for removal.

For mines, DAF offers high-impact applications such as water recovery from tailings streams, production of reusable process water, and improved sludge handling — all in a compact, modular footprint ideal for space-constrained sites.

The Dewatering Workhorse: Godwin Dri-Prime

On the dewatering front, the iconic orange Godwin Dri-Prime pump dominates the stand. Built for harsh mining conditions, the close-coupled centrifugal pump features all cast-iron construction with stainless steel options and a cast steel impeller capable of handling solids up to 75mm (3 inches).

Its continuously operated venturi air ejector and dry-running, high-pressure oil bath mechanical seal with silicon carbide faces are designed to minimize maintenance and sustain reliable, unattended operation — making it a go-to for routine dewatering, emergency response and bypass pumping.

Proven Performance Underground: Flygt Submersibles

Also featured are Xylem’s Flygt submersible pumps, supported by cutaway models revealing their wear-resistant engineering. Trusted globally for sump draining and dewatering tunnels and hard-to-reach areas, Flygt pumps incorporate wear-resistant hydraulics and the patented Dura-Spin™ system, where the closed impeller and grooved suction cover work together to sweep abrasive particles away from the impeller neck. Plug-in seals and easy-access design further reduce downtime.

Smarter Water Through Digital Integration

Beyond hardware, Xylem is highlighting its digital water management suite, including hands-on demos of Flygt Pareo smart pump controllers, the Xylem Nexicon modular monitoring and control platform, and Xylem Field Smart Technology (XFST) — its cloud-based telemetry platform for remote monitoring, control and cybersecurity-focused water infrastructure management.

The showcase also covers Xylem’s full service offering: preventative maintenance, mixer systems, SCADA integration, rental solutions, engineering and repairs.

Mistry added: “Mines are moving beyond standalone equipment to integrated water strategies that enable reuse, boost resilience and lower lifecycle costs. Xylem delivers end-to-end — from pumping to treatment and discharge, with digital intelligence that minimizes maintenance, improves safety and integrates seamlessly with existing site infrastructure.”
